Based in South Manchester and North Staffordshire, Prue is a professional actress and qualified Acting and Voice coach. As an Acting coach Prue’s principal specialism is the Sanford Meisner technique, and, when helping actors prepare their roles or monologue performances for auditions, castings, examinations, etc, she takes a largely Meisner approach to text analysis/interpretation.

However, the fundamental skill of Meisner’s technique, namely Repetition, cannot be learned or practised by individuals: a partner is always required. Consequently, in addition to her one-to-one coaching, Prue also offers by private arrangement bespoke workshops, short courses and comprehensive training to couples or, preferably, small groups (approximately 8-10 participants) at various locations (Drama Schools, theatre spaces, studios, etc).

The Sanford Meisner Approach to Acting

  • Are you an actor in search of a technique that really works?
  • Would you like to be an actor but aren’t sure where to start?
  • In search of a complete, structured Acting course rather than a smorgasbord of classes?
  • Looking for the commitment and patience of a professional actor/coach and qualified teacher?
  • Want an introduction to Hollywood’s best kept secret?
  • Heard of Sanford Meisner and want to know more?
  • Interested in processes that have lots to say about connecting and communicating truthfully with those you meet on or off stage?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above, maybe a course in the Meisner technique is just what you need.

The full training comprises 4 modules or parts:

  • Part 1 – Repetition
  • Part 2 – Activities
  • Part 3 – Emotional Preparation
  • Part 4 – Tackling Text

Each part or module can be completed at a pace to suit the participants. Please note, however, that whilst Parts 1 and 4 can be taught independently, the study of Parts 2 and 3 is dependent on students first mastering the fundamental technique of Repetition.

The cost for couples or small-group classes is the same as Prue’s charge for one-to-one coaching sessions, and ranges from £35 per hour to £75 for three hours.

Testimonials

“Prue is a great teacher who has helped me to really get what Meisner is about. Not only is it enjoyable and interesting but it really works. I’ve done things I never imagined I was capable of and the experience has been fantastic, and it has helped me not only in my acting but also my writing, understanding of Drama in general and in other aspects of my life, too.” – EJT, Liverpool

“There seem to be a lot of acting schools around that employ a ‘pick and mix’ approach to training, without a clear path through any one process. What Prue offers is so much more than that. I’d recommend her Meisner Training to any actor searching for an exciting and structured technique they can call their own – and one that really works. A great course, run by a skilled and encouraging teacher.” – MH, Sale

“I’m sure you don’t fully appreciate what you have done for me. I was seriously coming to the end of my road until you invited me to join your class. The brilliant way you teach what to some is a difficult concept to grasp is so uplifting. Along with this, the passion you feel for Meisner is passed on to all your pupils and certainly has led me to discover such rich new skills and yes I will use the word ‘enlightenment’.” – BB, Sheffield

“I’d just like to say a huge ‘Thank you’ for the past year of classes. The Meisner technique is so very different from anything I’d ever done before. It was both challenging and rewarding. I’ve learnt where my strengths and weaknesses are and I’ve learnt so much from your classes as to what real, truthful acting is, and where it comes from.” – CM, Salford

“Working with Prue is great, she has so much enthusiasm and love for acting it’s infectious. Prue has so much experience and training using the Meisner approach. I felt like I had found some hidden treasure. Two years on, since first working together, Prue is now helping me to develop a one-man show. It doesn’t stop.” – AB, Belper

“Your Meisner training has definitely been of help to me.  When I talk to people, I tend to listen more, whereas I used to interrupt!  It has given me a degree of confidence and assurance when speaking with people for the first time.” – PR, Altrincham

“Thanks for everything you have taught me so far.  I look forward to every single class, learn amazing things every week and come away from every class excited and inspired. You have helped me grow and improve and have given me more confidence. I feel I’m a better actor than I have ever been and will just keep improving.” – GG-S, Middleton
